The soldier's belt pouches and the pack. What do you guys use for them? I'm having trouble finding anything that looks remotely similar to them. Help a bad searcher out?

^These. Swoz used them for his soldier. Some minor modifications and some black spray paint, and they're good to go.

I've used macaroni boxes, cloth, spray on glue, and velcro. They hold up amazingly well for fabric covered cardboard as long as you don't sit on them. All I had to add was some gray paint to the velcro to make it look like it was actually a button.

I STILL need two people to be my scout and my spy as well as two more for stagehands. Anyone interested? Drop me an email or reply to this.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner! I would normally jump at the chance to be your Scout, but at this time I honestly don't know if I'll be in town during WonderCon (The weekend of WonderCon is also the last weekend of Spring Break for me, so I might either go home or maybe even on a trip somewhere). If you don't mind, can I be put down as a temporary alt just in case I can go?
>> No. 967
That's fine. I'll put you down as an alternative as Scout. :D

I bought two 3L bottles of cheap, horrible cider, emptied them into a sink, then cut the bottoms off both, stuck 'em together, and then sprayed 'em silver. The secondary tank was made from a similarly painted bottle of nail polish remover, the yellow was electrical tape, the gauge at the top was an old-timey thermometer, and the stripes were just slightly darker spraypaint.

Figured I'd go ahead and start a new thread for this con. It's starting to get a little closer now.

I recall there being talk of a possible panel? Anyone started the submission process? Also, meet-up etc...?

I'll be there with Spy, I'm hoping to have a RED intel case done in time too.

Dude that was so me. I said I didn't have a name because I thought you meant on here, and I -DO- but I'm barely on here unless it's for Ohayocon or Anime North and then it's a post or something else minuscule.

You were pretty cool, too, btw, even if you weren't in Scout it was so obvious who you were and that was pretty badass as it was. Too bad it didn't work out for the costumes though...

ohei bb

Yeah I went in to the weekend really sick and on Tuesday I was debating between not even cosplaying at all. I ended up spending probably 5 hours in the hotel room on Friday just sitting in bed watching House/NCIS/CSI on USA Network, so the amount of cosplaying and being at the actual convention that I did was very minimal.

My rationale was that I wear Scout all the fucking time too, and I might as well save it for ACen with the possibility of my bro spork coming to that one.

Scout takes a lot of energy, because I'm That Annoying Asshole, and I just didn't have it that weekend.

Pfft you seemed pretty happy peppy whenever I saw you, but maybe it was the adrenaline. <3

Everyone I stayed with and came in contact with over the weekend got sick, too, including myself, so just be glad yours is done with...as I'm still suffering from Monday. Ugh.

I was thinking that, but wasn't entirely sure. You might be able to find a toy wrench at a store. I know people have made them too. But I'm not exactly the best person to ask about making items. Busted PC is an excellent prop maker, though. I can always ask him what would work best.

Also, I derped and forgot to mention the goggles. Home Depot, Lowes, hardware stores like that should have welding goggles.
>> No. 927
Oddly enough I'm having the hardest time finding a reasonably priced pair of overalls. Everywhere I look online they seem to cost anywhere upwards of $40.

Most of the stores you mention have started carrying welding goggles of the single-rectangular-lens variety. Last year I had a hell of a time finding my Engie goggles. Ended up finding a pair for less than $10 shipped through Amazon. (Like this: http://www.amazon.com/Welding-Cup-Goggles-5-Shade/dp/B002DLYR8A/ ) Search for "brazing goggles" if that pair doesn't suit. You don't want the flip-up front kind - those are more Dr Horrible, and are far too big for Engineer.

My latest prop/costuming goal is to build Sasha. Before I can delve too deeply into any project, I scour reference pictures and try to figure out exactly what I need, and where to prioritize and how to build the final product. Frustratingly enough, I'm having a hell of a time finding reference pictures for the back of Sasha and the side closest to Heavy.

My question is this: where do all the cosplayers of TF2chan go to find their reference pictures?

The model viewer in the SDK. You view the in game model from any angle. It's almost an embarrassment of riches.

Also, I'm just going to leave this here:

Thank you so much! I've never heard of Source SDK, and now I have all the reference pictures I could possibly want. Also, thank you for the video link. That isn't how I'm (currently) planning on getting the barrel to spin, but it is definitely a good place to start and expand on ideas with.

I can't take credit for finding the video; someone else originally posted it, and I remembered it because I thought it was awesome.

Polite sage for not really contributing.
