Get really good heal targets, and let them do all the work. Or have a dead-eye aim. Either one.

Don't push up too far, keep your heal beam on someone who isn't pants-on-head retarded, don't poke your head out where there's a sniper, juke/strafe a lot, stay behind cover.

Now if they'll just nerf the ridiculous damage shield on the Phlog, and come up with a convincing downside to Dr. Enforcicle, more or less everything will be alright.

Ive noticed a trend, where a 6 v 6 player will hardly ever enter a pub without a perma medi buddy, yet most of them will shit all over pub play verbally. Why is this? It makes them look weak most the time, or stupid.

I highly doubt that a 6s player would care about how he looks like to pubbers. Many 6s players consider pubbing to be below them. I'm going to guess it's because it's fun to shit all over the enemy team. A pocket medic exponentially increases your killing potential and your survivability potential. 6s players are also accustomed to getting heals, so it may be frustrating to curb your playstyle on account of a lack of a reliable medic.
