Look, I'm a writer by nature, so I can't offer redlines or specific critique, but I would recommend looking at the thread stickied at the top of this section.

Much can be gleaned from browsing those tutorials, and there are several dedicated to the general face structure (which may be of great help in de-animuing this picture in general).

Try looking through that, revise accordingly, and then try again, so that the others can give you more individual, relevant critique instead of general advice, please.

Make the head smaller, that is one of the first things that jutted out to me when I first saw it.

But yeah like the others said, refer to the anatomy thread that I believe is stickied, it help me out a bunch, I' sure it'll do the same for you. >>3258

He looks like a 12 year old boy with a very bad haircut. Like the other people said. Anatomy at the top. Retry, revise, retry.

dear lord guys, this isn't half as bad as some of the weeaboo shit I've seen around, plus they are asking for advice on how to move away from the animu crap. this is sorta low, even for tf2chan's standards lol.

all that aside, I think your coloring is phenomenal :V I loove markers, (that is marker, right? if so, what kind? so smooth♥) amoung other traditional media. the head *is* pretty big, and the body's a bit short in stature, though I don't know the intended age of this spy-character here... also, the head is pretty far to the left.

I had some free time, so I went ahead and redlined out some stuff :D

I'm so happy that you asked for help, it's really great to hear that you want to improve!

I definitely recommend you to not just take my word for these things and research them yourself using the tutorials in the stickied thread.

I'm retarded. The two shin bones are the tibia and fibula. This totally makes me look legit, haha.

Thank you. I actually used colouring pencils for the colour. Yeah I am trying to stray away from the animu style its really hard getting out of my comfort zone. I'll get there soon.
Thank you though. (for being nice)

Yeah. Retrying is the best medicine, but really experiment with things.

I think it's best to move on from this drawing. To study the human form, stick to basic sketches from real people for your reference. However, I would also suggest doing some studies of the TF2 characters. Analyze their features, and how they are exaggerated, this will help you learn what makes them visually distinctive.

It doesn't look like you gave his hairstyle any thought, and went with something familiar, I take it you've only draw animu? Research men's hairstyles from the 50's, 60's and 70's.

i have sympathy for you~ I learned to draw animu style first D: BIG MISTAKE. and even bigger mistake when i only focused on getting better though ONLY that gene.

so a couple of starwars nerd friends took me to a good old fashioned American comic book store and i studied their style and their colors, and their anatomy like fuck.

i still like a couple of animu things, like pointy chins and stuff, but i think i really improved! maybe you should do the same thing? buy yourself a couple of 50 cent comics and just look through them a hundred times to get inspiration~
