young kids and conservative types still wore flattops and buzz cuts; if you didn't want to be associated with the counterculture you'd keep your hair short (and in period context, the only one of your boys who has "short" hair is the one on the far left)
i've also seen family photos of guys with those roman haircuts where you flatten your bangs down over your forehead, so i assume there was a trend for those at some point in the decade, but i can't pinpoint any specific film or pop culture thing which might have caused it
conservative people were also still using bryl-creem
so you'll have to consider what they're like to figure out what their hair should look like :3c
