Getting Started
1. What is an imageboard? An imageboard is a message board without registration and anonymous posting allowed. It's also a type of forum that revolves around posting images and other content, and facilitating quick and easy discussion between users.
2. Where should I start?
Familiarize yourself with the rules and FAQ before you start posting.
3. How do I setup a username?
TF2chan does not have a registration system. You can post with a username in the "Name" field when you go to post, or you can post anonymously by leaving it blank.
4. What is a tripcode and how do I use it?
Tripcodes are a way of identifying yourself in your posts without registering on the site. To use a tripcode, enter your name in the "Name" field as name#key. You can choose whatever you want as the key. Your key is private and won't be shown to other users on the site. A key that you enter will become encrypted, creating a hash value that is displayed to uniquely identify yourself.
An example would be the following:
Name: Scout#key
Typing "Scout#key" into the "Name" field would result in Scout!frjyt1Y4n
If you want a specific tripcode, you can download a program that'll search for tripcodes, such as Tripcode Explorer.
5. What is a secure tripcode and how do I use one?
A secure tripcode is unique to the imageboard you use it on. While a normal tripcode will be the same for every other imageboard, the output of a secure tripcode will be unique to TF2chan. Secure tripcodes can be used by putting two ## (hash sign) after your name in the "Name" field.
An example would be the following:
Name: Scout##key
Typing Scout##key into the "Name" field would result in Scout!!5J2BekLS9i being displayed on the board. Additionally, you can combine a regular tripcode and a secure tripcode when posting.
An example would be the following:
Name: Scout#key#other
If you want a specific tripcode, you can download a program that'll search for tripcodes, such as Tripcode Explorer.
6. What is sage and noko?
Sage is a post that doesn't bump a thread. Noko makes you return immediately to the thread you post in, rather than to the board's front page.
7. What are style tags and how do I use them?
- makes the text appear Bold.
- makes the text appear Italic.
- underlines the text.
[s][/s] - strikes the text through.

- hides the text until you hover over it with a mouse pointer or highlight it.
[aa][/aa] - changes the font to Mona/MS PGothic.
8. How do I quote another post?
Simply click the post number of who you wish to quote, and put a ">" before the text you wish to quote.
Message:
>>1234
>Quoted text.
9. How do I report a post or another user?
You can report a post or another user by checking the box near their post and scrolling to the bottom of the page. There you'll see a Report Post field, type your reason for reporting the post or user in the blank box provided and click on Report.
10. Can I delete my own posts?
Yes. Check the box near your post, scroll down to the bottom of the page, then click delete. You can delete the file only if you want, just check the "file only" button. Please note that it is necessary to set a password in the password field when making a post in order to be allowed to delete a post.
11. Why can't I bump a thread to the top of the board?
Threads enter "auto-sage" upon reaching 200 replies. Once this threshold is reached, said thread will stop bumping. This prevents threads from taking too long to load. You will have to create a new thread and link back to your old one when this happens.
