Time to rig this thing. Diffuse textures are roughly done. Still haven't adjusted any of the spec/phong or created normal maps, so bear that in mind. I'd love to hear any thoughts you might have about the color scheme (especially the buttons) or the model in general.

I've done a lot of work on the face and remodeled the boots and a bunch of other stuff since the last time I posted anything here. Sorry about the delay in working on it, and I'm looking forward to getting it finished soon.

Probably have to agree here. Even though it appears that the buttons are in match with the cigarette, I still think the brown/bronze buttons would look better on RED spy;

I agree that you should stay on the color pattern and make Red's button dark brown rather then white. Maybe make Blu spy's white?

I love how she's looking! But the buttons seem a little off. Maybe try a version where the gold and brown are swapped, so Red has the brown, and Blu has the gold/bronze? At a distance, they kinda yank the eye away from the face.

I'll have to test them out to see what happens when I use them. Only one other person told me they had problems so far, and a re-install evidently worked for them. When troubleshooting, I could really use as much info as possible.

I was thinking of doing something like gold/copper and silver/white for the red and blue buttons, but I'm having trouble envisioning anything looking really nice. Right now they're both different shades of brown. I guess my biggest concern about the BLU outfit is it's too cool, and I wanted there to be some warm highlights somehow to balance the outfit on its own, but that might just be a weird idea I got in my head, lol. I also liked the idea of the blue ones being darker, like the cigarette, but I think that grey would look gross.

I'll just try out a couple variations and see what people like. Also, the boots will be shiny black in the end, they're just grey to show the details better for now since I made some changes.

I did a pretty quick job unwrapping the coat, since I was planning on mostly solid colors, so something as precise as evenly spaced pinstripes might look like ass without me redoing that part. But I can try it out and see how they look. I don't really think pinstripes suit this kind of style for a coat, though, so that's why I stuck with them on the stockings.

I vote for sniper...I really would like to see your take on a fem sniper. Most like to give her a ponytail and some shorts. Also I like the idea of copper/silver for the buttons. Blu is full of "cold" colors and red "warm" colors so I think they are fine as is.

May I suggest a temporary view of stripes on her jacket, just to let us compare stripes to no stripes. I feel that the jackets seem to lack something, but I would like to see stripes just to see if they are that something.

Personally, I think the color of the sleeves and pockets should be the same color as the coat. As it is, it it just doesn't look right to me. Also, the pointed tips on the scarves look a tad silly to me. For everything else, I am in love.

That is what I want, like 10% transparency. I haven't had luck getting it to work selectively on certain parts of the model in the past, though.

I've actually never heard of that one, will give it a try. $alphatest just makes the whole head invisible, haha. I've since put the lenses on a separate material, since that's how they did it with the sniper. Thanks for the suggestion.

Finally got the opacity working on the lenses. Worked on the eyes and the shader stuff, I think these things make a huge difference. I just want to add a normal map for some minor things like wrinkles on the coat and scarf.

Here's a few variations to show some different buttons, cuffs, pantyhose stripe widths, etc. I want to hear what other people think works best out of these images for the final color scheme, I tried to take as much prior feedback into consideration as possible.

Next up is facial expressions, and that's the last big step. Then testing, adding the voice, and putting everything together for download.

(Sorry about the lack of stripes on the coat, I wasn't able to get a workable version done without redoing a lot of the uvs last night. I'll try to do a quick mock-up this week, to see if it's even worth trying out.)

Hrmm, not a big fan of the thick striped stockings. It kinda takes away from her body and draws a bit more attention to her legs. I mean I guess that's a good thing for her?
I don't care what anyone says, I'm in love with 4B spy. I love the blue shaded glasses. As for my RED spy, I got to go with 1A. I like how her colors mix.

Really random but is that dried blood on her boots or just some red light bouncing off of them?

Agreed on the striped stockings. I think they would look better with a solid color.

As for the color schemes, I think my favorites are 4A and 4B, though I think 4B would look better with darker sleeves and less saturation on the glasses.

Oh, I didn't even notice that. Random color noise like that comes from a detail map, you see that in dark areas on TF2 models, it simulates the look of brush strokes here and there.

What you're looking at is a faint hint of the fire overlay used when the classes catch on fire. It's a problem with how the model viewer handles the $detail command in the material. Not brush strokes unfortunately.

Really great work. Have you put any thought into how hats and whatnot will interact with the head? Unlike the Medic/Heavy hats I cannot see many of the Spy hats really working with that headscarf/sunglasses combo.

Overall I think the silver buttons with BLU and the 4A RED buttons work the best. In purely game terms I have to disagree with the consensus and say the ones with cuffs which match the headscarf are the best- they have an immediacy and the feeling of a uniform. It's the difference between a woman who is employed by a company and is forced to wear the colours but has cut them to be fabulous, and a woman who has dressed fabulously and just happens to be on a battlefield.

Hnnnggg...I almost can't decide...

I really like 3A and 2B. Both their buttons stand out nicely and their sleeves and pockets blend in just right.

I also like what you did with the coloration on 4A's sleeves and pockets, but I prefer the darkest button shade on both models.

I'm hoping you try out pinstripes for the coats next, and even though I like the striped stockings I'd like to see what the models look like without them.

I un-lazied myself last night and re-unwrapped the upper torso so there's no texture stretching (you can get away with more of that when it's a solid color). I'll try out pinstripes next.

The bottom row are all_class hats without being edited, so they don't fit quite perfectly in this picture. I'm only going to edit the ones I absolutely have to, and the medals still aren't working right for me.

I'm about 1/4 through the 40 facial flexes, and I still have the HUD/UI/menu stuff to do. Also, DustyOldRoses posted a new set of voice clips, if you're interested.

I've just released an update that addresses the hat clipping problem (was using an older set of them that was offset by mistake). Made a bunch of other visual improvements like spec masks, added female spy disguise mask, and fixed the bug that wouldn't show different classes on the mask besides Demoman.
