What exactly would a "clean" Reserve Shooter be? I would assume the vast majority are tradable and therefore you wouldn't need to specify. The only thing I can think of is you mean it wasn't crafted and therefore doesn't have the "Crafted by..." text. However, that text can easily be removed by hitting restore. It's as easy as removing paint.

What's the difference between clean and dirty?

It refers to the status of an item, be it weapon, misc, or hat.
Clean means that the item is both craftable and tradeable, while a dirty one (if not specified) might mean it is not craftable, or tradable, or both.

Also, a clean dropped item, means it has not craft number, a marker some people dislike.

Always check with the trader (and the in game trading tool) shall you have doubts of the item's status.

What are four refined worth? Could I get a hat for this? Several? A first-born child? I honestly don't know what metal is worth, because to me, having it be worth anything seems silly, since I essentially made it out of garbage I didn't want. So I have no clue what people will trade for it.

Four refined is a good amount, it depends on the hat you want for them. You can get two 'regular' or 'old' hats for that, and three 'craft hats' if you play your cards right. If you want a fancier hat like the some of the newer or rarer hats you could trade all four and get something really nice. However, for some of the rarest hats like unusuals you can amass hundreds of refined and not get a buyer.

Don't rush into a purchase before consulting someone experienced, it's probably someone trying to rip you off. What hats are you looking to get?

Well, if I had a strange huntsman and didn't need it i'd sell for this price or less, maybe even gift it to someone who appreciates. I gifted other stuff as well to people who aren't traders. I don't care what they do with the stuff then, they may trade it for else, but I won't support greed, manconomy and the spreadsheet any further as well as I won't spend one single more buck on this game.
