Oh, look. A TF2 MSN roleplay group. Yeah, that's right. Most of this is just going to be copy-pasta from the main board, elsewhere. If you have questions or require clarification on something, feel free to ask me!

It would really help to have MSN Messenger Plus, so you can sign into multiple accounts at once. Having the game would be cool, too. One of my fellow admins wants to dabble in ingame roleplay, and I was thinking we could hold battles over the game rather than over text. Now, without further rambling, here is the copy-pasta. I have this posted somewhere else on the chan, but I really would like some advice on an OC:

His name is Tristan Springfield, BLU Sniper, comes from Perth, Australia. He was raised with the White Australia belief, joined the Australian Army, but after he was abducted by Taliban fighters in Afghanistan (my timeline takes place in early 2000s), converted to their form of Islam and culture. Just wondering if the set up checks out.

tl;dr: Australian Taliban with White Supremacist background-too contradictory.

I saw a post similar to this, but only dealing with OP's character, so here's mine.

The BLU Sniper in my fanfic I'm working on is one of the main antagonists, but I'm running into a mess.

First off, his name's Tristan Springfield and he hails from Perth, Western Australia. He joined the Australian Army and was sent to Afghanistan for a humanitarian mission. He ends up being kidnapped by the Taliban, brainwashed and converts to their brand of Islam. Tristan eventually gets rescued, but the damage is done.

But then I run into the problem: when he was younger, he was raised with the "White Australia" belief...which factors in because my RED Sniper is part-Aborigine.

Is this conflicting or not because I want him to be a total arrogant rat-bastard who shows no emotion when confronted by death/killing people.

Any advice welcome.

Considering the game takes place in 1967, it's hard to tell when some people are either putting their characters in a modern setting instead, or if they just don't know that something didn't happen in 1967. I don't know what the case is here, but if it's modern-day, or at least takes place in a different time than the game, you might just wanna let people know ahead of time. Otherwise you might get comments like 'OMG UR a moron! Da Taliban didn't come around till the 90's, DUHHH', and so forth. Not necessarily the comments you'd get from here, but still.

I didn't see a thread for OC help anywhere, so I hope if it's OK if I make one.

In Meet the Sniper, the Sniper mentions "blokes bludgeoning their wives to death with golf trophies": I thought that he would get along well with this type of character. I'm thinking that she married a guy with anger issues and/or drinking problems and he almost bludgeoned her to death or she died but was revived. Either way, she might have amnesia and maybe be sexist. What would she do about the wedding ring, though? Would she keep it on to keep men from flirting with her if they're interested? Or would she remove it to try to forget her husband (assuming she didn't forget/get amnesia)? I don't think she would divorce him, she would probably just run away from him.

When an event like abuse happens, there're usually psychological consequences, right? What would hers be?

I'm thinking that she'll end up being a Spy and she'll either be an ass or extremely shy around men.
